The Foundation for the Horse is dedicated to preserving and improving the health and well-being of equines by honoring exceptional veterinary students dedicated to equine practice. Scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence, leadership and a commitment to equine veterinary medicine. Students interested in applying must also have the support of AAEP members and their clinical instructors.
The following scholarships are available to Veterinary Students graduating in 2025:
- One (1) - $5,000 scholarship awarded annually to eligible third year veterinary student
Five (5) - $5,000 scholarships awarded annually to eligible third year veterinary students.
Five (5) - $5,000 scholarships awarded annually to eligible third year veterinary students.
Ten (10) - $10,000 scholarships awarded annually to eligible third-year veterinary students.
Eligibility Requirements:

On track to graduate with your DVM or equivalent in 2026

Currently enrolled and in good standing at an AVMA-accredited school of veterinary medicine in the United States, Canada, Caribbean, or Europe.

National AAEP Student Members (paid through August 31, 2024) and are active within their school’s AAEP chapter.
Note: Applicants are ineligible for this scholarship if they have previously received a 2nd or 3rd year scholarship from The Foundation.
Note: Only one application is required to apply for all third-year scholarships.
