Service rotation description
Currently, we have two surgery days per month for which the interns will rotate assisting the Surgeon. When assigned to surgery day, the Intern will be expected to assess surgical/hospitalized patients, update medical records before rounds/daily appointments, and perform after-hours treatments. They will assist the surgeon in preparation, surgery, and recovery.
The majority of the time, when not assisting the surgeon, the Intern and the Employer will be responsible for selecting an ambulatory veterinarian to shadow on a daily basis. The first two months will provide the Intern with exposure to staff veterinarians, clients, patients, and the practice area. After the initial two months, the Intern will begin assisting with emergency veterinary services, initially for a set number of weekdays per week, followed by weekend on-call duties after two to three months. The Intern will be expected to be on-call 1-2 day a week and will receive at minimum one weekend off every 4-5 weeks.
