Position Full Description

Hess Equine Veterinary Services is a fully ambulatory five doctor practice offering advanced on-farm care to exclusively equine patients. We provide complete veterinary services to an array of equine athletes, breeding stock, and neonates.
Our interns are actively involved in case management and patient treatment from the onset of the internship experience. The intern rotates through sports medicine, reproduction, Thoroughbred sales, emergency services, and routine medical and surgical cases.
Because of the diversity and progressive nature of the practice, an internship with Hess Equine prepares the graduate veterinarian for all routine aspects of ambulatory practice. Through the use of our advanced imaging equipment and the opportunity to assist in and perform technical medical and surgical procedures, the intern achieves a very well-rounded post-graduate experience.
One veterinary intern is accepted annually to rotate throughout the practice under the guidance of our regular full time veterinarians. Interns will, dependent upon their skillset development, see calls and emergencies on their own.
Veterinary students interested in future internship opportunities are highly encouraged to visit for a regularly scheduled externship opportunity.
We invite motivated veterinary students interested in a career in equine practice to apply during their fourth year by November 15th. Applicants must be eligible for licensure in MD and PA. Competitive salary.
