West Wind is a well established equine and small animal practice. We practice performance and pleasure horse medicine including some elective surgical procedures. We offer hospital and ambulatory services. West Wind is AAHA accredited in small animal practice and brings that gold standard level of practice through to our equine side as well. We are a 6 doctor practice with 6 technicians, 2 receptionists, office manager and support staff. Our team is a tight-knit group of people who work hard but also set aside time for team bonding activities – we actually like who we work with!
What sets us apart is that we have a small animal hospital as well as equine so you can tailor your internship (or externship) to your interests and skill level – exclusively equine or split your time between equine and small animal. Our internship is designed to help new veterinarians build confidence as a general practitioner. We focus on hands on skills with direct shadowing and mentoring until our interns feel comfortable taking emergency and routine appointments on their own. Have your own goals? Let us know so we can see if we would be the right fit for you.
We are located in a densely populated equine region with access to a number of referral equine hospitals for advanced imaging, internal medicine and surgery. West Wind is proudly enrolled as a distant veterinary learning clinic (DVLC) with the University of Calgary as a teaching hospital for final year vet students.
