Optimize your imaging techniques and interpretive skills to help deliver accurate diagnoses of conditions in the foot and metatarsal/tarsal regions at the AAEP’s ImagingXP, the second topic in the wet labs-focused learning series AAEP Experiential—or XP.

ImagingXP is limited to only 20 participants and features a participant-to-instructor ratio of just 4:1 to energize learning and ensure plenty of individual engagement with the expert panel of instructors. Imaging XP will be held September 19–20 in Ringoes, N.J., at the Element by Westin Ewing/Princeton (morning lectures) and Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center (afternoon wet labs).

Learning Opportunities Include:

Building off a strengthened understanding of anatomy through limb dissections, you’ll acquire the knowledge to efficiently and effectively diagnose conditions such as deep digital flexor tendon injury, hindlimb proximal suspensory desmopathy, enthesopathy, and subtle radiographic lesions indicative of navicular degeneration or occult distal tarsal injury. You’ll also be introduced to emerging imaging techniques such as ultrasound anisotropic imaging and specialized radiographic projections.

Wet labs utilizing live animals and limb specimens will instill translatable skills through immersive, small-group learning opportunities:

  • Review pertinent anatomy using prosected and dissected limbs to enhance imaging techniques and application of diagnostic/therapeutic injections
  • Refine radiography and ultrasound skills of the foot and metatarsal/tarsal regions on normal horses and those with commonly encountered lesions
  • Practice variable approaches to common diagnostic blocks and intrasynovial therapeutic methods
  • Test newly acquired knowledge on challenging clinical cases during interactive, multimodality case rounds.

Lectures and wet labs will be led by a renowned group of instructors composed of board-certified specialists and experienced field practitioners skilled in imaging techniques:

Kathryn Bills, VMD, DACVR, DACVR-EDINew Bolton Center, University of Pennsylvania

Lindsay Deacon, DVMLittleton Equine Medical Center

Natasha Werpy, DVM, DACVR Equine Diagnostic Imaging, Inc.

Kara Brown, VMD, DACVSMR New Bolton Center, University of Pennsylvania

Holly Stewart, VMD, PhD, DACVS-LA New Bolton Center, University of Pennsylvania

In addition to acquiring immediately implementable knowledge and skills, opportunities for camaraderie and fellowship will abound during the course, over lunch and at a welcome activity on September 19. These informal gatherings will forge relationships with instructors and fellow attendees, creating a community network that will last for years.

If you’re ready to take your imaging of lower limbs to the next level for the benefit of your patients and clients, take advantage of this exceptional and in-depth learning opportunity!

RACE-Accredited CE Hours: 18.5

Registration is on a first-come basis, and the deadline to reserve a room at the Element by Westin/Ewing/Princeton at the special AAEP rate is September 1. Registration will open late May.
