Internship Type
In-Hospital
We view our internship as an invaluable opportunity for recent graduates to strengthen their clinical skills in a supportive environment—free from client production pressure. Our program is designed to give interns comprehensive exposure to all aspects of equine practice, while encouraging confidence, independence, and professional growth.
This internship provides the chance to apply and refine the knowledge gained in veterinary school while developing practical, hands-on experience. Interns work closely with our doctors and technical staff to gain broad exposure in equine medicine, surgery, imaging, and critical care.
What You’ll Experience:
• Daily involvement in patient care, including record keeping and treatment management for hospitalized cases.
• Direct participation in surgical procedures and anesthesia support.
• Hands-on training in lameness evaluations and advanced diagnostics.
• Extensive experience with radiography and imaging techniques.
• Opportunities to assist across a wide range of medical cases, ensuring a well-rounded experience.
Program Structure:
• Direct Supervision: 9–12 months of structured mentorship.
• Workload: Approximately 60–70 hours per week, providing a balance between structured learning and hands-on case involvement.
• Emergency Duties: Emergencies are a component of the internship but are not the primary focus and are managed in a way that ensures a valuable learning experience without being overwhelming.
