Any additional information the practice would like to share on their internship program:
Our clinic values building multifaceted veterinary-client-patient relationships, through our stallside interactions, but also through client education events which provide our clients with access to in-depth and current topics in equine management and veterinary medicine, as well as an opportunity to socialize with our team and other members of the local equine community. Lecturers are typically a combination of guest lecturer (specializing in the field of interest), and KVA team members.
KVA also hosts several veterinary and pre-veterinary students throughout the year, offering interns the ability to take part in mentorship and teaching opportunities.

Other details about technician support of intern doctors
Hospital caseload does not include surgical cases, critical care cases or cases that would establish need for quarantine but does include in- and out-patient care, as well as foaling and post-natal care. The hospital utilizes real-time camera feed to monitor patients overnight, with pre-established camera check times by doctors and staff. Overnight in-house case management is usually covered by the resident veterinarians and owners of the practice, but there may be instances wherein the intern would be asked to participate in some overnight duties. Technicians and doctors are generally a 1:1 ratio within the practice, with technicians being delegated first to the most intensive daily caseload, then to doctors-in-training. Interns are not asked to see appointments during office hours without assistance.
