Service rotation description
For the first month of the Internship, the Intern will be kept in hospital to learn how treatments are performed, flow of in house appointments, and most importantly to train on running anesthesia. During this month, the Intern will also shadow in clinic appointments with any doctors that have in clinic scheduled appointments. The Intern will be on call for any after-hours surgeries on weeknights during this time to continue their training. Interns will not have weekend duties and expectations for the first month of the internship.
The second month of the Internship, the Intern will rotate daily between ambulatory doctors riding to field appointments to gain a better understanding of the practice area, meet clients, and gain familiarity with ambulatory medicine. Interns will begin taking one night of solo anesthesia call during this month based on the progression of training as determined by the surgery and anesthesia staff. Interns will be on call for hospital emergencies only on every other weekend where they will meet the regular on call doctor in the hospital for emergencies and be present in the mornings for treatments to prepare for taking on call.
The third month of the Internship, the Intern will continue to rotate between ambulatory doctors on Monday and Tuesday each week, and will be on anesthesia or in house on Wednesday and Thursday. Fridays will be at the discretion of the internship coordinator as a potential opportunity to start seeing in hospital emergencies as the primary doctor. Interns will continue to have one night per week of anesthesia call along with primary anesthesia call every other weekend. The Intern will be on call for hospital emergencies only on every other weekend where they will meet the regular on call doctor in the hospital for emergencies and be present in the mornings for treatments to prepare for taking on call.
