General Scope and Nature of Training
• Interns will receive mentorship in reproductive cases, foal evaluation, general herd health, pre-purchase exams, lameness and sales
related diagnostics
• Interns will learn through experience as well as structured rounds and case discussions
• Interns will develop an understanding of case management and client communication
• The primary goal of the internship is to develop clinical maturity and judgment with the intention of interns taking primary case
responsibilities as the year progresses.
Qualifications
• Candidates must have a D.V.M. or equivalent degree and ability to obtain a veterinary license to practice in the state of Kentucky
• Candidates must have a valid driver’s license
• Candidates must have previous horse experience

Interns are encouraged to participate in the annual Large Animal Emergency Rescue clinic, sponsored by Lexington Equine Medical Group. Additionally, the practice hosts an annual Hunter Pace and 5K, with all proceeds benefiting the Kentucky Horse Council.
