Vet Direct Safety: Assisting Horse Owners with up to $500 for Emergency Vet Bills

The Vet Direct Program is designed to assist horse owners with short-term financial need pay for emergency equine welfare issues such as:
- Colic that can be managed on the farm (non-surgical)
- Stitches or staples
- Wound management
- Choke
- Eye issues
- Neurologic impairment
- Diagnosis of endocrine issues
- Euthanasia and disposal, if recovery is unlikely
Horse Owners - Think your horse might be a candidate for the program? Contact your veterinarian to ask if they’re enrolled in the Vet Direct Safety Net program – the process is simple! Note: They must be a U.S.-based AAEP member to participate.
It cannot be used for:
- Colic surgery
- Vaccinations
- Routine dental work
- Ongoing medication needs
- Therapeutic modalities like acupuncture or chiropractic care
