Reinforce and advance core skills commonly used in equine practice at the AAEP’s Foundational Skills in Equine Practice, an immersive, laboratory-heavy CE event dedicated to equine practitioners with less than 10 years’ experience in the field.

Limited to only 60 attendees and featuring an exceptional 4:1 participant-to-instructor ratio, you can count on plenty of individual attention to advance pertinent patient-care skills in imaging, podiatry, reproduction and colic.

Learning Opportunities Include:

Using both live horses and cadavers, you will obtain and interpret radiographs, perform ultrasound examinations (musculoskeletal and abdominal/thoracic), and perform upper airway and guttural pouch endoscopy. Podiatry, reproduction and colic labs will focus on commonly performed procedures. Complementary lectures will enhance learning and help prepare you for scenarios likely to be encountered in the field.

Business sessions on topics including mindset and sustainability will supplement the assortment of clinical knowledge and skills offered.

In addition to the main educational programming, an optional mare palpation repro lab using live horses will be available prior to the start of main educational sessions on Aug. 8–9. Participation in either of these wet labs is limited to 10 registrants on a first-come basis and requires separate advance registration at an additional cost of $50. These labs will help you identify reproductive anatomy via transrectal via transrectal palpation and ultrasound as well as identify state of reproductive cycle via transrectal palpation and ultrasonography.

The educational program will be available soon, registration is now open. The meeting is anticipated to offer approximately 18.5 RACE-accredited CE hours.

“This is my favorite meeting/CE I’ve ever attended. I learned so much and made a lot of great connections.”

“Appreciate all the work everyone put into the meeting. It was a great opportunity to network, brush up on some rusty skills, and learn some new ones.”

“I can't overstate how valuable it is to have a community of new vets just like myself going through the same challenges at work that I can discuss things with and relate to. On top of that, I learned many new techniques that I will take home to my practice to improve how we work.”
