NOTICE: For 2026, the AAEP Annual Convention submission deadline is Sunday, March 1 at midnight EST. The submission portal opens January 2, 2026. Early submissions are encouraged.

AAEP members and equine professionals are invited to submit papers for presentation at the 2026 Convention. Selected papers will be published in the 2026 AAEP  Proceedings and presented live. The submitting author will receive complimentary registration and a travel honorarium.

How to Submit Your Papers:

  • All papers must be submitted online. Late submissions will not be accepted.
  • Set up your profile and enter paper/author details in advance.
  • Blind review: Do not include author names, institutions, or metadata in the uploaded paper.
  • Submitting a paper implies a commitment to present if selected.
    * Plan for presentations to be a 15-minute talk with 5-minute Q&A

Paper Categories & Requirements

Scientific Papers
New data, research, or case studies.
-Minimum 600-words.

“How-To” Papers
Practical techniques, new or underutilized in practice.
- No word limit.

Review Papers
Topic updates or clarification of conflicting information.

Abstracts
For authors intending to publish in refereed journals.
-  ~300 words (or per journal guidelines)
- Must include full 600-word paper for reviewer use only.

Business & Practice Life Papers
For 2026, the theme is:
“The Business of Transitions: From Start-Up to Step-Back”
- Minimum 600-words.

Ethical & Practical Notes

  • Use generic or chemical names for all products; footnote if needed.
  • Follow FDA guidelines for compounded pharmaceuticals.
  • Cite evidence-based levels of medicine wherever applicable.
  • Be transparent about financial disclosures or product relationships.
