Blue Ridge Equine Clinic is seeking a motivated recent veterinary graduate with a passion for equine medicine to join our well-established internship program. Located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, BREC has offered an equine internship for nearly two decades and is dedicated to providing hands-on experience, mentorship, and clinical development for new veterinarians. Our internship alternates weekly between in-hospital and ambulatory rotations, providing exposure to a diverse range of equine medicine and surgery.
During the hospital week, interns work closely with our surgical team which includes two surgeons, including one double-boarded in Surgery and Sports Medicine, three licensed veterinary technicians, and two hospital assistants. Opportunities include scrubbing in for elective and emergency surgical procedures, managing hospitalized and critical patients, and learning to proficiently work up an emergency referral case.
During the ambulatory rotation week, interns ride with one of our four ambulatory veterinarians, gaining experience in general wellness and preventive care, lameness and sports medicine, reproduction, and emergency care.
Interns work as part of a supportive team and receive mentorship throughout their training. If you are looking for an internship that offers meaningful hands-on experience, a diverse caseload, and dedicated mentorship, we invite you to apply and join our team.
