Expand skill sets, boost confidence, and connect with supportive colleagues at a similar stage of practice at the AAEP’s Foundational Skills in Equine Practice, January 29–31, 2027, at the University of Florida. This immersive, labs-heavy CE event is designed specifically for equine practitioners with less than 10 years’ experience in the field.
The 2 ½-day hands-on event is limited to just 60 participants and features a low student-to-instructor ratio so that you receive plenty of individual attention to advance pertinent patient-care skills in the areas of medicine, ophthalmology and dentistry. The extensive roster of instructors embodies a healthy mix of successful practitioners from private practice and university settings.
Learning Opportunities Include:
Morning “how-to” lectures on the first two days seamlessly transition to afternoon labs at which you’ll master key clinical skills using live horses, cadavers and models for a full-circle learning experience. A business session on the second morning devoted to contract negotiation and difficult client conversations will help you deftly navigate these interactions. The event concludes with an additional morning of labs on the third day.
The meeting is anticipated to offer approximately 21 RACE-accredited CE hours. View the educational program for the meeting through the above tab. Registration is expected to open by late summer.

“I can't overstate how valuable it is to have a community of new vets just like myself going through the same challenges at work that I can discuss things with and relate to. On top of that, I learned many new techniques that I will take home to my practice to improve how we work.” - Past Foundational Skills Attendee
“The wet labs were incredibly impressive; I was beyond amazed at what we were able to learn and accomplish. … I feel 100 times more prepared than I did before.” - Past Foundational Skills Attendee
