Position Full Description

Park Equine Hospital (PEH) is seeking three (3) first-year veterinarians for our 54-week Internship Program, ideally starting on June 14, 2027 (start date is flexible). Our program allows new doctors to gain practical skills and expand their knowledge in surgery, anesthesiology, general medicine, ambulatory field care, reproduction, sports medicine, lameness evaluation, advanced diagnostic imaging (including standing MRI), emergency care, and alternative therapies. Our goal is to provide a positive learning environment where Interns can become well-rounded practitioners while being mentored by our experienced veterinarians, including board-certified surgeons and sports medicine specialists.
PEH strives to maintain a close-knit, supportive atmosphere, allowing Interns to grow and develop individual skills and interests. This program is perfect for new doctors seeking to join a diverse and thriving mid-size practice that values and promotes teamwork and a desired work-life balance.
As part of the Altano Group, we are leading the way in equine veterinary care, and that starts with taking care of our PEH team members. Interns will have access to a wellness platform for self-care, and cutting-edge resources through the Altano Academy, including specialized exchange groups and clubs, CE opportunities, and VetPD library.
Prerequisites for our internship program include:
• A passing score on the NAVLE
• Completion of DVM or VMD degree at an AVMA accredited University
• All required examinations must be completed before the start date
• Licensed to practice in the State of Kentucky or expected to receive your license within two (2) weeks of start date.
• USDA accreditation or expected to receive within two (2) weeks of start date.
• A complete application packet including official application, curriculum vitae, introductory letter, and three (3) professional letters of recommendation.
Internship compensation packages start with a $60,000 salary, with the opportunity to receive a percentage of paid emergency fees after 90 days. Interns may be eligible for advancement to Associate Veterinarian after six (6) months, contingent upon performance, readiness, and practice needs. (Associate positions are not guaranteed).
The benefits included in this internship package are listed below:
• Health and Ancillary Insurance
• Professional Liability Insurance
• Professional Dues and Licensing Fees, including AAEP, KVMA, & KAEP
• Ten (10) days of PTO, to be taken during our slower months
• Use of a practice vehicle, and/or reimbursement
