Equine veterinarians will acquire the latest diagnostics and treatments in the field of sport horse medicine at the American Association of Equine Practitioners’ 19th Annual Resort Symposium, to be held Jan. 30–Feb. 1, 2017, at The Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa.

During three half-day educational sessions, attendees will learn to distinguish the different presentations of performance problems in the sport horse from neurologic to orthopedic, employ the appropriate imaging technique to make the diagnosis, and administer the proper treatment and rehabilitation. Presenters are Drs. Amy Johnson, Sarah Puchalski and Tracy Turner, leading authorities in the fields of neurology, imaging and sports medicine, respectively.

Following sessions, attendees will want to grab the sunscreen for some midwinter fun in the Caribbean sun on U.S. News & World Report Travel’s No. 1 beach in the world for 2015–2016. They can also join their veterinary colleagues for optional group excursions that include a catamaran sail, cultural safari tour and horseback riding on the beach.

The Resort Symposium qualifies attendees for 15 CE credits and is sponsored by AAEP Educational Partners IDEXX and Merial.

Currently, the AAEP reaches more than 5 million horse owners through its over 9,000 members worldwide and is actively involved in ethics issues, practice management, research and continuing education in the equine veterinary profession and horse industry.
