Building on its longstanding commitment to supporting exceptional veterinary students, Merck Animal Health, in partnership with the AAEP Foundation, will award five $5,000 scholarships in 2018 to second- and third-year veterinary students dedicated to careers in equine practice.

Created in 2015, the scholarship program is open to AAEP student members who are active within any of the AAEP’s 39 student chapters at veterinary colleges across the U.S., Canada, Europe and the Caribbean.

“Through this scholarship program, we are reinforcing our longstanding commitment to the next generation of leaders who will advance the science of healthier animals,” said D. Craig Barnett, D.V.M., Equine Technical Services, Merck Animal Health. “Our partnership with the AAEP allows us to help support the cost of veterinary education, an important initiative for Merck Animal Health and the future of the industry.”

Interested students must apply by midnight ET on April 10. Applicants require the support of AAEP members and their clinical or faculty instructors. Each award will be determined based on financial need, academic excellence, leadership and a commitment to equine veterinary medicine. This year’s application will be used for the selection of both Merck Animal Health and Oakwood Foundation scholarship recipients.
