AAEP XP Ophthalmology to debut in October
The American Association of Equine Practitioners today announced the launch of AAEP Experiential – or XP – a wet labs-focused learning series through which equine veterinarians can level up their clinical skills with small-group, hands-on training.
AAEP XP events will be limited to 20 registrants and feature a participant-to-instructor ratio of 4:1 to ensure an optimal learning environment that emphasizes individual engagement with recognized experts in the field of study.
All XP events will award RACE-accredited CE and each topic will be offered three times in different regions of North America.
The series kicks off October 17–19, 2024, with AAEP XP Ophthalmology at Peterson Smith Equine Hospital in Ocala, Fla. Registration will open in late July. AAEP XP Ophthalmology is subsequently planned for Arizona and Kentucky during the first half of 2025.
The second half of 2025 will bring the debut of AAEP XP Musculoskeletal Ultrasound. This intensive course focused on imaging of the stifle and distal limb will be offered in Southern California and the Northeast. Additional clinical topics will be added to the XP series in coming years.
“The new AAEP XP series will provide exceptional hands-on learning opportunities from which AAEP members will be able to immediately apply the techniques to enhance the level of service provided to patients and clients,” said AAEP Executive Director David Foley. “The rotating series is designed to meet members ‘closer to home’ through the enthusiastic support of practices and institutions that have expressed interest in hosting events. Additionally, we are pleased to announce that Dr. Margo Macpherson has joined the AAEP team as the XP series coordinator.”
