The American Association of Equine Practitioners returns to the West Coast in 2012 for its 58th Annual Convention, Dec. 1 – 5 in Anaheim, Calif.

Attracting nearly 6,000 veterinarians, students, technicians and exhibitors, the AAEP Convention is the world’s largest educational event dedicated to equine veterinary medicine. During this five-day meeting, equine veterinarians will attend education sessions, discuss current issues affecting horse health and find new tools for their veterinary practices at the Annual Trade Show.

Emphasizing the importance of essential skills for the daily practice of veterinary medicine, the 2012 Educational Program provides sessions relevant to every practitioner, at every level of expertise. Sessions will cover important topics including joint therapies, developments in medicine, the anatomy of the equine foot, critical field emergencies, techniques for ultrasound, caring for the orphan foal, reproductive challenges and much more. Three dry lab sessions on Dec. 5 will allow veterinarians to explore the topics of dermatology, advanced dentistry and ophthalmology.

Home to the original Disneyland® theme park established in 1955, Anaheim captivates its guests with abundant family entertainment, sophisticated dining and shopping, and world-famous coastlines, including Newport Beach and Laguna Beach. Annual Convention attendees are eligible for discounted ticket prices to two Disney theme parks. For more information about entertainment in Anaheim, visit www.anaheimoc.org/aaep12.

Attendees are encouraged to register before Oct. 22 to save $75. To view the full Educational Program or register for the meeting, visit www.aaep.org/convention.htm.

The American Association of Equine Practitioners, headquartered in Lexington, Ky., was founded in 1954 as a non-profit organization dedicated to the health and welfare of the horse. Currently, the AAEP reaches more than 5 million horse owners through its nearly 10,000 members worldwide and is actively involved in ethics issues, practice management, research and continuing education in the equine veterinary profession and horse industry.
