Internship Type
In-hospital
Oakridge consists of five board-certified surgeons and one board-certified internal medicine specialist. Oakridge has a robust caseload of sports medicine, orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, medicine, and emergency medicine cases. Interns will have the opportunity to learn from a diverse skill set of senior clinicians with several years of combined experience. Each intern will be paired with a senior clinician on a rotating basis to maximize exposure to a variety of cases. Duties include assisting with outpatient diagnostics, lameness and sports medicine exams, surgical assistance, and assisting in the daily care of the assigned senior clinician’s in-house patients. Interns will also receive anesthesia training. A technician performs most after-hours treatments. On average, each intern will enjoy 2 nights off per week and 1-2 weekends off per month.
Internship compensation package totals approximately $65,000 per year and includes a $40000 salary, $2000 CE budget, individual housing with utilities (sewage, garbage, water, electricity, gas), Oklahoma state veterinary license, AVMA and AAEP dues, insurance stipend, and opportunity to earn emergency fees (average $3500).
We have a wide-range referral base encompassing all of Oklahoma, and extending into Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Texas. Caseload consists primarily of Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds, with disciplines ranging from racing and rodeo to pleasure riding. We offer clients a high-field MRI for diagnosis of complex soft tissue injuries to provide the best possible care for our patients. Other specialty therapies include stem cell, regenerative laser, platelet-rich plasma, IRAP, shockwave, AO/ASIF fracture fixation, and many other innovative surgical, medical and sports medicine therapies.
