Veterinary technicians play a vital role in the clinic operations of a modern veterinary practice, as do assistants. As support staff working under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian, veterinary technicians can perform or assist with a wide variety of tasks; however, they cannot diagnose, prescribe, perform surgery, or engage in any activity prohibited by a state’s veterinary practice act.
Understanding the roles and resources this professional support can offer requires an understanding of the education and regulations.
