The AAEP monitors national legislative and regulatory matters affecting the health of the horse and the practice of veterinary medicine. Efforts by the association may include developing a position statement on an issue or advocating for the passage of legislation. The Welfare & Public Policy Advisory Council is the AAEP member-led group which provides direction on such matters to the AAEP board of directors.
