scholarships, internships and research grants. In

programs and

including vaccines, sedatives and analgesics, anti-infec -
tives and parasiticides.
The company’s Commitment to Veterinarians continues to
focus on training and continuing education, research and
development and investing in the future of the profession.
Pfizer Animal Health participates in continuing education
events such as the Hambletonian Continuing Education
Seminar, the AAEP Dental Short Courses, the ACVIM
Forum, the AAEP Annual Convention and other
independent wet labs and seminars.
Pfizer Animal Health always encourages horse owners to
work with their veterinarian to improve the health and
well being of their horses. The Equine Immunization
Support Guarantee provides up to $5,000 for reasonable
diagnostic and treatment costs if a horse properly vacci -
nated by a veterinarian using an eligible Pfizer Animal
Health vaccine contracts the corresponding equine disease.
Pfizer Animal Health also advances the Individualized
Deworming (ID) program, which utilizes a veterinary
consultation to help determine a personalized deworming
program for each horse.
Pfizer Animal Health contributes to the AAEP
Foundation, the American Veterinary Medical Foundation,
the American Quarter Horse Foundation, the Morris
Animal Foundation and many other educational and
equine research programs.

Remembrances
Dr. Ralph Knowles
Dr. Ralph Knowles, a recipient of the AAEP’s Distinguished
Life Member honor, passed away June 16 at his home in
Vero Beach, Fla.
A graduate of Colorado State University, Dr. Knowles was a
long-time chief of staff veterinarian for sheep, goat, equine
and ectoparasites for the Animal and Plant Health Inspection
Services, U.S. Department of Agriculture. He later served as
an international consultant for equine piroplasmosis and the
electronic identification of animals.
Dr. David McCarroll
Dr. David McCarroll, the founder and
owner of Interstate Equine Services, Inc. in
Goldsby, Okla., passed away May 25.
Dr. McCarroll served as an AAEP On Call
spokesperson and for many years the
official show veterinarian during the AQHA
World Championship Show. A 1973 graduate of Texas
A&M University, Dr. McCarroll taught equine medicine and
surgery at Oklahoma State University and the University of
Tennessee. He established Interstate Equine Services, Inc. in
Goldsby, Okla., in 1993.
