ANIMAL DISEASE NEWS

Vesicular stomatitis quarantines remain in Colorado
Fifty -one Colorado premises remain under quarantine after horses and
cows tested positive for vesicular stomatitis. Meanwhile, 300 previously
affected premises in that state have been released from quarantine.

Equine herpes virus confirmed in Idaho horses
The Idaho State Department of Agriculture (ISDA) reported two horses in Bonneville
County were euthanized after displaying neurological symptoms consistent with
Equine Herpes Virus (EHV -1). Laboratory testing conducted on on e of the horses, prior to
its death, confirmed the horse to be positive for the neurologic strain of EHV -1. Learn

Texas A nimal Health Commission to test horses for Piroplasmosis
The Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) has designated Brooks County as a high
risk county for exposure to Equine Piroplasmosis and will begin testing equine (horses,
donkeys, mules, ponies and zeb ras) in Brooks County on Friday, November 14, 2014. Find
