Equine Veterinarians Will Make a Splash at AAEPs 62nd Annual Convention in Orlando

Sep 9, 2016

Equine practitioners will acquire the practical knowledge, innovative solutions and professional connections to deliver positive outcomes to patients when the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) 62nd Annual Convention and Trade Show convenes at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., Dec. 3-7, 2016.

The annual convention is the world’s largest continuing education event dedicated to equine practice, anchored by more than 100 hours of continuing education; a 300-exhibitor strong trade show; and attendance comprising thousands of industry leaders, researchers, academicians, private practitioners and students.

The educational program will feature the most current clinical knowledge in the core areas of dentistry, emergency and critical care, imaging, infectious disease, internal medicine, lameness, rehabilitation and reproduction. Complementing the broad slate of medical sessions will be daily “Business of Practice” sessions as well as sessions on the in-demand topic of ethics and the emerging topic of personal wellness and quality of life.

A comprehensive menu of student programming designed to facilitate the transition from veterinary school to practice will include interactive dry labs, professional development sessions and the traditional Avenues Career Night at which students can explore internship and externship opportunities with dozens of leading equine practices throughout North America. As a convenience for students with final exams the following week, the vast majority of student programming will be held Saturday, Dec. 3 and Sunday, Dec. 4.

Meanwhile, daily networking and social events will enable attendees to engage and form meaningful relationships with colleagues, while a robust trade show will showcase the newest products and services for practice.

Once again this year, the American Association of Equine Veterinary Technicians will hold its annual meeting in conjunction with the AAEP’s 62nd Annual Convention.

The American Association of Equine Practitioners, headquartered in Lexington, Ky., was founded in 1954 as a non-profit organization dedicated to the health and welfare of the horse. Currently, the AAEP reaches more than 5 million horse owners through its over 9,000 members worldwide and is actively involved in ethics issues, practice management, research and continuing education in the equine veterinary profession and horse industry.
