About Us:
Animals In Motion is a premier specialty practice focused on equine sports medicine and canine rehabilitation. Our mission is to provide cutting-edge care that enhances the performance and well-being of our animal patients. Additionally, we are proud to support the Rooster Run Foundation, an onsite farm animal rescue dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of a diverse group of animals, including horses, donkeys, goats, sheep, pigs, and roosters.
Position Overview:
We seek a dedicated and passionate Veterinary Intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both equine sports medicine and canine rehabilitation, while also supporting the care of rescued farm animals at the Rooster Run Foundation. The successful candidate will work under the mentorship of Dr. Carrie Schlachter, VMD, DACVSMR, gaining exposure to advanced diagnostics, therapeutic techniques, and animal care protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in the examination, diagnosis, and treatment of equine and canine patients.
* Participate in rehabilitation therapy sessions for canine patients, including hydrotherapy, laser therapy, and exercise programs.
* Support the management and treatment of farm animals at the Rooster Run Foundation, including routine health checks, vaccinations, and emergency care.
* Assist with imaging procedures, including digital radiography and lots of hands-on ultrasound.
* Maintain detailed medical records for all patients, ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation.
* Participate in client communications and education, offering support and guidance on animal health and wellness.
* Contribute to the practice’s daily operations, including assisting in treatments, administering medications, and providing general animal care.
* Engage in continuing education opportunities, including attending relevant seminars, workshops, and training sessions.
Qualifications:
* Recent graduate or final-year student of an accredited veterinary program.
* Strong interest in equine sports medicine, canine rehabilitation, and farm animal care.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
* Compassionate and dedicated to providing high-quality care to all animals.
* Ability to handle physically demanding tasks and work in various weather conditions.
* Prior experience in a veterinary setting, particularly with equines or canines, is preferred but not required.
