Description:
The Lameness Locator®, which was developed at the University of Missouri in the US. The system is comprised of three movement-measuring sensors, two accelerometers, and a gyroscope, mounted on the head, pelvis, and right forelimb respectively. The data is transmitted wirelessly using Bluetooth to a tablet PC that collects, stores, and analyses the information using a specialized software program. The report contains objective information such as the symmetry of movement for each limb and the average position of the head and pelvis in millimeters during the stride. The Lameness Locator is designed for use at a trot, the most common gait for lameness examination, and can assess the horse in a straight line or circle on any surface. Lameness is identified as asymmetry of movement or differences in the head or pelvic position between limbs.
