While these guidelines are primarily directed at veterinarians and horse owners or their agents, it is recognized that optimal patient care can only occur through the coordinated efforts of all individuals associated with an equine patient including veterinarians, veterinary staff, owners, trainers, animal handlers and caretakers, insurance company representatives, and others. Therefore, the guidelines include recommendations for all individuals.
